Beautiful, honest, down to earth poetry that strikes a chord with anyone who has visited the hills and hollers of the Appalachian Mountains and Rural Kentucky. I absolutely loved it. Hopefully Mr. Roberts will publish volume 2!
These words are real. And there are so many different stories. There are literally poems about logging, horses, men, woman, soldiers, grandchildren, mothers, fathers, love and then shine. Who on earth can't relate to one of those? Appeals to all. Love!

Appalachian Poetry is a great collection of assorted works from Cas Roberts. The range of topics is wide and all of the poems are well done. This is a great, easy read full of poetry that covers lots of things, modern to old. I really recommend that you check it out!
Cas Roberts has a knack for telling a story through a poem...he writes from his heart and will touch your heart through his words!
Cas Roberts writes about a world and a people who have almost disappeared from existence. People who lived solely off the food they raised with their own two hands and who taught themselves everything they needed to know to survive the harsh conditions of Appalachia.
This is a great book for those few remaining souls who know what it's like to use a horse plow. But maybe, Mr. Roberts' best potential audience should be the millions of young students in this country, and certainly in the Apppalachian Region, who NEED to know what life was like for these people, at this time in history. Teachers would be well advised to pick this book up for their classes. It's poetry, history and certainly autobiographical. Mr. Roberts' book speaks with a certain authority of one who has walked the walk as it were.
